CHEMO group is developing its CSR through various avenues, most notably through the Mundo Sano Foundation.
The Mundo Sano Foundation is a global not-for-profit organisation dedicated to the practical and applied research of neglected tropical diseases (NTDs). CHEMO channels its corporate social responsibility activities via this foundation, whose origins echo the Group’s family history.
Since it was founded in 1993, the Foundation has, with cooperation from public and private organisations, developed and managed intervention models that reconcile the areas of scientific research and social development in order to transfer technology to affected communities and socially vulnerable endemic areas. Mundo Sano is currently developing 42 programmes in the most vulnerable endemic areas of Argentina with the aim of preventing and controlling diseases such as Chagas disease, dengue fever, malaria, leishmaniasis and soil-transmitted helminthiasis.
Mundo Sano is part of a global alliance, led by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, aimed at coordinating efforts to accelerate the control and eradication of 10 neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) in support of the objectives established by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) for 2020. In addition, Mundo Sano has coordinated efforts to enable the manufacture of benznidazole, a drug prescribed for the treatment of Chagas disease.
